Windows 7 Tablet Favored by School District Over Other Tablets
Around 2,000 units of Windows 7 tablets are reportedly being distributed to students at a school district in the US and it was reportedly selected die to concerns on security and the durability of the device as compared to that of the iPad of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).
These Windows 7 tablets of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) are reportedly the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550. They feature a ten-inch display and the Oak Trail Atom processor of Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and will be used as learning tools for students from grade 6 to grade 12 at the Charlottesville City school district.
These Windows 7 tablets from Fujitsu are reportedly durable enough to withstand drops and can be used in environments that are considered demanding as compared to the iPad. Maintenance expenses will be reduced since these Windows 7 tablets from Fujitsu can last longer while inside a backpack.
Aside from the Windows 7 tablets and the iPad, some Android-powered devices were reportedly evaluated as well and the selection of the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 was also due to its use of the Windows 7 operating system. The eight-hour battery life and stylus input method of this Windows 7 tablet also played a role in its selection by the school district.
The Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 was initially made available in May and features a 1.5GHz processor and features 1080p HD video playback. The selection of the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 was also based on the device itself since the Windows 7 OS is not fully optimized for use on tablets.
In comparison to the Windows 7, the Windows 8 OS is fully optimized for use on tablets. Content delivery may also not be as good on the Windows 7 tablet as compared to that of the Apple iPad or the Amazon Kindle Fire, which both have online stores offering content aside from a number of e-reading and cloud options.
Despite the fact that Apple has focused on the education industry, the school district still opted for the Windows 7 tablet and the Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 will likely be a substitute to the PC rather than a tablet itself.

Watching the slumping San Jose Sharks, who are currently hanging onto the eighth spot in the West after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Oilers last night, I wonder if some of their core players are just worn down after playing a lot of hockey during the past few seasons.

Remember, Todd McLellan's team has travelled the long road to the Western Conference Final in each of the past two seasons. Perhaps, that heavy schedule is catching up with key vets like Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau.

Whatever the case, the Sharks had better figure things out in their final 18 games or they'll have a lot more rest than they want.
